Since I’ve been known to promote the heck out of Mozilla’s line of products, mainly Firefox and Thunderbird, I feel it’s necessary to alert you all to the recent bug discovered which could allow a hacker with malicious intent to execute commands on your computer. The bug is only present for Windows Nt, 2000, or XP Home/Pro computers running any of the Mozilla products. If you are running Mozilla 1.7.0, Firefox 0.9.1, or Thunderbird 0.7.1 on any of these operating systems, it’s highly recommended you update to the latest versions as soon as possible. The mozilla.org servers are taking a pretty good spanking as of the writing of this article, so two good friends of getoffthecomputer.com are providing mirrors of the most recent releases.

I can only imagine how Microsoft will try and use this discovery to their advantage, but it’s important to note how fast this vulnerability was patched and new versions released once the bug was uncovered. Score another one for the Mozilla team. Now go update and stay safe!
