    If you’re in the market for a new email client, allow me to recommend one of the best. Several weeks back in the debut of GetOffTheComputer.com and the Downloads arena, Mozilla Firebird was our featured bit of software. Here at GetOffTheComputer.com, Mozilla’s Thunderbird is deployed on more than 50% of our systems without any issues such as crashes or virii spreading on account of poorly written software.     Making Your Own CAT5 Cables

    I was talking to a friend of mine today and I mentioned the topic for today’s tutorial. He inquisitively asked, “Making cables?” “Yes,” I responded. I guess there has been a bit of resistance to the idea of creating your own cables for use on 100BaseT networks. Nonetheless, I’m going to forge ahead, primarily because I feel this is a skill that is a necessity in the business environment and one that can save you a ton of dinero at home.

    CSS Part 3

    Maybe most of you had figured I was dead or at least severely injured, as none of my writings have graced these pages for a whole week. Have no fear though, as I have found my way back to my office in the GetOffTheComputer.com complex and I’m now ready to resume my work. I spent much of my time off this past week in the GOTC library researching for future tutorials and then camping out in the data center preparing week’s CSS code for your enjoyment. Lucky for me, one of our “sanitation engineers” found me and was able to show me the way back to my place in the building. This week we take a look creating cool buttons from pure text. I know you’re asking yourself why would you want text buttons when we can have cool flash buttons like the ones seen on some sites, but trust me, they’re much faster to load, look very clean, and your dial-up visitors will be much more appreciative. If you’ll take the time to read the article, I’ve even thrown in a special trick using CSS in the very end.
