Joke about mom leads to criminal investigation — Northwest Florida Daily News

    I guess times are changing.

A child’s joke about sleeping with another friend’s mother led to a child abuse investigation.

An investigator with the Department of Children and Family went to Destin Middle School on Sept. 19 to look into an allegation that a child had been having sex with an adult, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office report.

The investigation revealed that the story started during P.E. class while a few boys were joking around.

Upon questioning, one of the boys involved said he “made up the story about a friend having sex with (the) mother,” the report stated.

The case was ruled as unfounded.

Will someone please think of the children???

    Worthy of a Post

Apparently, this guy has never seen an episode of COPS. Resisting equals tazing.

Since the video doesn’t show the lead-up to the altercation, context is needed.

    From the Gainesville Sun:

Toward the conclusion of Kerry’s UF forum, 21-year-old Andrew Meyer approached an open microphone at University Auditorium and demanded Kerry answer his questions. Meyer, a UF student in the College of Journalism and Communications, claimed that University Police Department officers had already threatened to arrest him, and then proceeded to question Kerry about why he didn’t contest the 2004 presidential election and why there had been no moves to impeach President Bush.

A minute or so into what became a combative diatribe, Meyer’s microphone was turned off and officers began trying to physically remove him from the auditorium. Meyer flailed his arms, yelling as police tried to restrain him.

    […]

As Meyer was escorted away, he was followed by several students, including Matthew Howland, 20. Howland, a UF senior who said he didn’t know Meyer, said he was “appalled” by the way UPD officers handled the situation. Howland acknowledged that Meyer had acted inappropriately by “rushing” the microphone and forcing a question on Kerry.

What’s This? Some Sort of Phone?

    Posted: Wed Jul 4 2007 8:43

If anyone knows of a place where I can get some information on something called the “Apple eye-phone” please let me know. I know this is a rather obscure request, and I’m sure that most people don’t have a clue what I’m talking about. However, if anyone knows anything about this elusive device, please let me know because I would like to hear something about it. I feel like I’m missing out on something important, and I also feel that the media is dropping the ball by giving this important device NO coverage.
